Résumé : |
The use of board games as a tool to initiate vocabulary acquisition was the primary emphasis of this research, which was also focused on the teaching system in Wallonia within primary and secondary education. Vocabulary is the key to communication. After noticing that the study of language could be a source of boredom for some students, we pondered the various ways in which it could be made more appealing to younger students. What do teenagers enjoy doing regularly? In what way may board games contribute to their overall education? Would board games get students over the monotony of vocabulary learning and make it more efficient? We attempted to find the answers to these questions by carrying out studies in a few different groups over the course of four to five weeks. We began by orienting the students through the various board games that would be used, and we followed that up by conducting a survey. We wanted to learn more about their profile, their motivations, and so on. In addition, we thought it would be interesting to solicit feedback from experienced teachers by having them respond to another survey. Following all of these lines of inquiry, we arrived at the conclusion that board games could be of considerable use within the educational system, but they needed support to be organised thoroughly. |
