Résumé : |
Ron Clark is an American teacher who became famous after having taught to a class of disadvantaged students in Harlem, New York City, as his students attained standards beyond their expected ability and even scored better than some advanced students.
To achieve this goal, Ron Clark developed revolutionary teaching methods starting with implementing 55 rules aimed at teaching the students how to respect each other in order to improve the class environment. Then assuming that every child could be successful, he developed other techniques based on innovation and creativity to motivate, inspire and help every one of them to learn.
As Ron Clark made a difference across the Atlantic and is willing to share his experience throughout several books he wrote, my aim with this thesis was to analyse his philosophy and see in which measure we could use his methods to improve our school system and achieve “a school of quality for everybody”.
That’s why in the literary review I first analysed his way of doing in accordance with the objectives of our school system and had afterwards the pleasure to experience it during my training session with three different procedures I put into practice: I implemented a few rules, I created a concept to make the students aware of their responsibilities and that allowed me to enhance them and I tested the students to measure the impact of creative lessons versus traditional lessons.
If the results of the different procedures vary, I may conclude that through the tools and methods inspired by Ron Clark, I attained a large public that I wouldn’t probably have reached without enthusiasm, innovation and creativity.
This is why it is important to believe in the educability of every student and find all possible techniques using creativity and passion to reach every one of them in order to prepare them to be citizens of the world and just as Ron Clark, make a difference. |
